It’s been a while since I’ve written on here, and ironically, it’s because life got “Faster” rather than “Slower.” I look back on the last two months not with regret but with some sadness that so much of our free time got filled up. Some things could not be helped, including a family emergency, work travel, and some sickness (anyone else been sick since kids went back to school?!). Other commitments were our choice, a family vacation (our first!) and a weekend trip home.
It feels strange to admit that life got “too fast” on a blog that is supposed to be all about living a “slower life.” But, a Slower Life is always the goal, not necessarily the reality. I am glad that we have a few weeks before Christmas activities kickstart. J. and I have again committed to a more relaxed, low-key Christmas and each year we try to pare down even more. Whenever I hear people complaining about the cost and stress of the holidays, I am reminded again why we try to keep it small and simple.
Despite our recent full schedule, I am again committing to slowing down our life and enjoying the simple moments together, whether it’s a grocery store trip, a snuggle on the couch, or making construction paper decorations for Christmas.
Here’s to slowing down…again.
